The FIFA World Cup 2022 is the 22nd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men’s football world championship contested by the men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup held in the Middle East and the second in Asia (after the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan).
The tournament will be held in eight stadiums across five cities: Lusail, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Doha, and Al Wakrah. The final will be played at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on 18 December 2022.
A total of 32 teams will compete in the tournament, which will be divided into two stages: a group stage and a knockout stage. In the group stage, the teams will be divided into eight groups of four teams. Each team will play the other three teams in their group once. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
The knockout stage will consist of four rounds: the round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and the final. In each round, the teams will play a single match, with the winner advancing to the next round and the loser being eliminated.
