Marshall’s Out! No Fight on Jonas-Price Undercard
Right, so this is a bit of a curveball. Savannah Marshall, the super middleweight champ, has pulled out of the Natasha Jonas vs. Lauren Price fight on March 7th in London. Apparently, she’s feeling pretty “humiliated” about the whole thing – and that’s putting it mildly, I reckon.
Word on the street (or, you know, the boxing gossip channels) is that she wasn’t happy with being placed on the undercard. I mean, come on, she’s a champion! She’s not just some rookie trying to make a name for herself. Having her fight as a preliminary bout to Jonas and Price… yeah, that’s gotta sting a bit. Apparently, she felt the billing wasn’t reflecting her status and she wasn’t happy with her treatment from the promoters. Can you blame her?
It’s a shame, really. The fight would’ve been a cracker. I was looking forward to seeing her in action, and I bet a lot of other fans were too. But hey, sometimes things don’t go as planned. Maybe this is all for the best; she can focus on other opportunities and come back even stronger.
This whole thing raises some interesting points though. It’s a reminder of the power dynamics in boxing, the politics involved, and how frustrating it must be to feel undervalued as a champion. It also highlights the pressure these athletes are under. The public only sees the glitz and glamour, but there’s a whole lot more going on behind the scenes – egos, contracts, and disagreements on how to best promote a fight night.
So, what’s next for Marshall? Who knows! But it’s definitely something to keep an eye on. The boxing world is buzzing with speculation, and I’m sure she’ll have something to say about it soon enough. This could be a turning point in her career, and it’ll be fascinating to see how it all plays out.
